Sensex Today | Nifty 50 | Stock Market Live Updates: MRPL shares jump 7% after three day decline, eyes Venezuelan oil purchases
Shares of Mangalore Refinery and Petrochemicals Ltd climbed up to 7%, touching an intraday peak of Rs 149.40 on the NSE, snapping a three-session decline.
The earlier sell-off followed remarks by company officials indicating that the state-owned refiner has stopped importing Russian crude in view of Western sanctions and is evaluating alternative supplies, including oil from Venezuela. Devendra Kumar, MRPL’s head of finance, said the company is examining Venezuelan crude options after suspending Russian oil purchases to ensure full adherence to international sanctions. He emphasised during an analyst call that MRPL remains fully compliant, with no Russian crude currently being sourced.
